Detection and response for businesses without a security team

Most small businesses can't staff a security operations center. You don't have to. Black Arc puts trained analysts and response tools behind every computer and Microsoft 365 account you own, all day, every day.

What we cover

  • Windows workstationsMonitored
  • Windows and Linux serversMonitored
  • macOS laptopsMonitored
  • Microsoft 365 and Entra IDMonitored
  • Remote and hybrid staffMonitored
EDR

Endpoint detection and response

A lightweight agent on every computer records process activity, logins and network connections. It flags behavior that matches known attack techniques, even when the file itself has never been seen before.

  • Behavior-based detection that goes beyond antivirus signatures
  • Remote isolation that cuts a compromised machine off the network
  • Kills malicious processes and removes persistence
  • Runs alongside Microsoft Defender
MDR

Managed detection and response

EDR tells you something is wrong. MDR means someone acts on it. Our security operations center watches your alerts 24/7/365, investigates them, and stops active threats before they spread.

  • Human analysts on watch around the clock, including holidays
  • Active response: isolation and containment on your behalf
  • Microsoft 365 monitoring for risky sign-ins and mailbox forwarding rules
  • Plain-English incident reports and a monthly summary
Pen test

Penetration testing

We attack your network the way a criminal would, with your permission and inside an agreed scope. Then you get a prioritized list of what to fix and how to fix it.

  • External and internal network testing
  • Web application and Wi-Fi testing
  • Phishing simulations to see how staff respond
  • Findings ranked by severity, with step-by-step fixes
  • A retest to confirm the fixes worked
When something happens

What happens when a threat hits at 2 a.m.

Here's how a typical incident plays out with Black Arc on watch.

  1. Detect

The agent on a front-desk PC sees Word launch a hidden PowerShell command. That pattern matches a known malware loader.

  2. Investigate

An analyst reviews what the program did and confirms the activity is malicious.

  3. Contain

The PC is isolated from the network. It can still reach our team and nothing else, so the threat can't spread.

  4. Notify

Your contact gets a call and an email explaining what happened and what we did about it.

  5. Report

You receive the full timeline, the root cause and the steps to get the machine back in service.

Antivirus vs. EDR vs. MDR

Why antivirus alone isn't enough anymore

Modern attacks use legitimate tools and stolen passwords. Antivirus looks for known bad files, so it often never sees them.

Questions

Common questions

Do we need to replace our antivirus?

Usually not. Our platform runs alongside Microsoft Defender and most business antivirus products. During the review we'll tell you if anything conflicts.

Will it slow down our computers?

The agent is lightweight and built to run in the background. Most people never notice it's there.

What happens when you isolate a computer?

It drops off the network except for its connection to our team. Everyone else keeps working. We restore access once the threat is cleared.

Do you work with our current IT company?

Yes. We can handle security on our own and coordinate with your IT provider, or work alongside your internal staff.

Is a penetration test going to disrupt our business?

Every test runs under a signed scope and rules of engagement. We agree on timing, targets and anything that's off limits before we start.
